EA Play Is Now on Steam Our popular game membership gives you challenges and in-game rewards, member-only content, and more. EA Play. is a great way to get more from the games you love – from in-game challenges and rewards to early access trials of brand-new Electronic Arts games. After Steam finishes re-installing itself and rebooting, you will notice that Steam does have a slightly updated look. Return to the Settings menu, and then select the Steam Play tab toward the bottom of the window. Check the boxes to enable “Steam Play” for both supported titles, and if you’re willing to take a chance, all titles.

Steam Play is a feature that allows you to run compatibility layers in the Linux version of the Steam client. Proton being one of them, based upon another called Wine, allowing you to play thousands of Windows-only games on Linux. Be sure to check out our constantly updated beginner's guide here.

EA Play gets you: Unlock exclusive challenges and rewards, member-only content, early trials of new releases, and access to a library of top titles. Play select new-release games for up to 10 hours even before they launch. Get more to play with unlimited access to a collection of Electronic Arts’ fan-favorite series and top titles. When you click on the game's 'play' button, it brings up the 'preparing to launch' screen, then nothing happens. For some reason, Steam refuses to properly create the game's prefix folder - when you look inside it's simply a 0 byte pfx.lock file. So in order to debug the issue, I ran Steam through a terminal.

What is the status of Easy Anti-Cheat and BattlEye with Proton?
Neither currently work or are supported with Proton.
What about Denuvo Anti-Cheat?

Can I use Proton outside of Steam?
Yes. Lutris can help with this but it's a bit complicated. Lutris has its own special Wine builds that are easier to use.
Where do I report bugs in Proton and broken games?
Onto Valve's GitHub page but try asking in our forum first.
