While setting up the Your Phone app, you'll be prompted to enable access to your Android device's messages, but if you choose not to at that point, you can always turn it on in the Your Phone app settings.
To do this, open the Your Phone app, go to Settings, and under Messages, turn on the toggles for:
Allow this app to show text messages from my phone
Allow this app to send MMS attachments from my phone
Allow this app to receive MMS attachments from my phone
Automatically download MMS attachments from my phone

IdentityLookup works only with SMS and MMS messages from unknown senders; it doesn't work with messages from senders in a user's Contacts list or with iMessage messages from any source. To find out if a message from an unknown sender is unwanted, the Messages app launches the currently enabled Message Filter app extension and queries it, as. If you and your recipients are using Apple devices and iMessage is turned on, then the group message is sent as an iMessage. If you send a group message to people who aren't using iMessage, then the message is sent as an MMS or SMS message.

- IMessage is faster than SMS or MMS: SMS and MMS messages are sent using different technology than your iPhone uses to connect to the internet. You can send photos and other large files a lot faster using iMessage than you can using MMS messages.
